We previously covered this topic on mothers learning the art of surviving to protect and ensure the safety of their families when the need arises. The first part revealed the first 6 steps – this post will serve as a continuation by providing you with the last 6 items on our survival skills list.
- Know how to build a fire
Building a fire by scratch is the most difficult task to learn. However, fire is one of the most basic needs of a human. Everyone needs fire to cook, to boil water, to sanitize unclean medical tools, to keep people warm, to make herbal medicines with green barley benefits, and more. Although this task is suitable for a man, but it wouldn’t hurt for a woman, particularly for a mother, to immerse herself by learning this skill. When emergencies strike, her skills will come in handy.
- Learn easy-to-make recipes
Although we suggested you buy ready-to-eat food in times of crisis, but it’s also important to cook real food because because at some point you will exhaust your reserve foods. Moms don’t have to prepare something extravagant. They can still attain making a healthy meal without the need for ingredients that are expensive. Subscribe to a weekly recipe magazine or search on Youtube or in other websites for healthy recipes. To make it healthier and nutritious, find recipes that are filled with green barley benefits and some vegetables, fruits as ingredient substitutes.
- How to use survival gear
Do moms know what the basic tools for survival are? A knife, fire steel or metal match, whistle, signalling mirror, water purifier, maps, compass, and sleeping blankets. These tools are very handy especially when you’re in the wild or if you are doing camping. But what do moms have to do with all of these gear? Everything. Just because these tools are used by men doesn’t mean that a woman can’t use them. So for moms, it’s better to own some or at least all of them and know how to use each of them, especially the compass. This tool is very useful when you or your family are out somewhere and need directions to keep you in track.
It will really make a difference in the family’s lives if they own a survival gear.
- Immerse with the natives
If the family is stranded in an unfamiliar place after a natural calamity or migrate to another location due to hard times, the mom needs to immerse herself with the locals to last longer in the new area. Every mom is afraid of dealing with strangers, but learning how to engage with strangers is a skill that must be learned so she can learn the ins and outs of the place, learn the routes, find the best deals and discounts on healthy foods and products with green barley benefits, and more.
- Fixing things
When the water pipe leaks, the TV is broken or the light switch is not turned on, usually the dads are tasked to fix these problems. But what happens if the dad is away on an important errand or is traveling somewhere and there’s no way to reach him? It would have been better to hire someone to fix them but it requires spending money. Although moms never plunge themselves in repairs, but it’s an added bonus if the mother knows a thing or two about them.
Make some time every week and invite other moms to take special classes with you. It might be odd for some people to see a lot of mothers taking man-skilled classes, but it’s definitely worth the time and money.
- Discover how to purify water
There are days where you don’t have clean water in your home. Your family won’t have clean water to drink, to take the bath, to clean and sanitize tools, wash vegetables and prepare juice or supplementary drinks with green barley benefits, so it’s better for the moms to enhance their survival skills by learning how to purify water. This method is very easy. To kill off bacteria, boil the water for three minutes. If there’s no fire, pour water in a clear, plastic bottle and let it sit under the sun for six minutes to get rid of the organisms. If there is sediment, add a pinch of salt to the water.
Moms need to remember that these survival skills are very vital for the safety of their family. If they set their hearts and minds to know most or all of these things, the fruits will be rewarding. More importantly, they will live comfortably despite the hard times.
